Compared to Aquidneck, Sightsailer is lower to the water, which gives a greater sensation of sailing and more of a race boat style sailing experience. When it’s windy, Sightsailer will heel (lean) over more than Aquidneck and many find this quite exciting! Non-sailors should not be alarmed: the sail is always very smooth. If Aquidneck is a Cadillac, Sightsailer is a two seat convertible sports car. Both are fun, yet in different ways.
Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay are two of the most beautiful bodies of water in the world. They also offer some of the best sailing conditions in the U.S.! No where else can one so easily experience superb sailing conditions while viewing stunning seaside estates, famous yachts and other visually arresting sights set against the backdrop of a colonial town and beautiful rocky shoreline.
On a typical sail, we cruise through Newport Harbor, into Narragansett Bay and along the shoreline of Newport’s Ocean Drive. The scenery is spectacular and the sailing is usually first rate. Sights include Goat Island, Fort Adams, Hammersmith Farm and Clingstone an iconic home perched on a rocky outcropping. Although this is not a sailing tour where we talk constantly through a microphone, our captains and crew all know the history of the harbor and bay and will point out the highlights.
Sightsailer is a great boat to sail on however to help ensure the enjoyment of all guests and for safety reasons, we do not take children under the age of six. |
