A Newport sailing cruise is fantastic! We offer daily, regularly scheduled, public day and sunset sails aboard Schooner Aquidneck and Sightsailer while Starlight sails just for private sailing charters. Click on the pictures of the boats at the bottom of this page to read more about our different boats and view their sailing schedules, then go to our Buying Tickets section to purchase tickets or book a charter! Have a question? Email us at info@sightsailing.com. We will respond in less than 24 hours.
On our boats, guests may help raise sails, take the wheel and sail or sit back and relax. No sailing experience is required! Each boat offers a different sailing experience.
On a typical sailing cruise we sail through Newport Harbor, into Narragansett Bay where the Newport Bridge is and along the Ocean Drive of Newport. Sights along the way include Goat Island, where the Navy made most of the torpedoes used in WWII, Fort Adams, the largest, best preserved fort on the East Coast, Clingstone, a one of a kind house perched on rocks, Hammersmith Farm, the summer Whitehouse of JFK, yacht clubs, race boats, historic churches and countless other sights. The scenery is spectacular!
The wind and tide vary daily, so no two trips are exactly alike. We try to sail as much as possible, however if there is no wind, we will start the iron mainsail (the motor) and motorsail.
Captains and crew are more than happy to share their knowledge and history of the area and will answer any questions, however we don't consider our sails to be tour boats where we provide regular narration through a microphone.
Schooner Aquidneck and Sightsailer have daily, scheduled public sails and are also available for private charters while Starlight has a schedule yet sails only by private charter.
