A sailing charter in Newport, RI makes for a unique and enjoyable event.  Schooner Aquidneck is available for private sailing charters for up to 49 guests.

Private parties, corporate events, Newport weddings, birthday parties and just about any special occasion are all great sailing charter ideas!  Past corporate clients include Adidas, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Boston Beer Works, Harvard Universiity and Raytheon. 

On a typical sailing cruise, we sail through Newport Harbor, into Narragansett Bay and along the shoreline of Newport's Ocean Drive.  The scenery is spectacular and the sailing is generally first rate.  Guests may help raise sails and participate in the sailing or sit back and relax.  We find that sailors and non sailors enjoy their sail on Aquidneck.  There are comfortable places to sit as well as a large amount of open deck space enabling guests to move about with ease. 

For private sailing charters, we have a large mahogany table that we set up should you want food aboard as well as plenty of coolers for drinks.  For  information on food and drinks, click on the food and drink button in the Private Charter section of the web site.  There are two restrooms and a stereo CD system with I-pod interface should you want to listen to music.  A private charter aboard Aquidneck is often the highlight of a trip to Newport!

What’s the difference between sailing as a group on a public sail versus a private charter?

If you do a private charter, your group will have the boat to themselves. We’ll also set up a large table should you want to have food and you may also have drinks. On public sails, you may not bring or have catered food, coolers and drinks aboard.

If you want to bring a large group on a public sail, the largest number of people part of one group that we will take on a public sail is 24. If your group is larger than 24, your party can start to overwhelm the rest of the vessel so we require that groups larger than 24 privately charter the vessel. If you have a group of more than 12 people that would like to go on a public sail, please contact Captain John Hirschler at 401 862 4718.  If you have a large party, we require that the block of tickets be purchased under one name. Final passenger count numbers must be confirmed at least 5 days before sailing.

We welcome both groups and private charters! However, if you are trying to put on a party that is more of an event, a private charter is more special and definitely the way to go.
